Indore: Builder held after being on the run for 18 months

A builder was arrested in connection with land fraud on Friday. The accused had developed residential colony on a farmer’s land, which he had taken on rent few years ago in Simrol. The accused has been handed over to Simrol police station where he is being questioned further.


He used to take lands of farmers on lease after inking agreements. He had developed colony named Dream Park on land taken on lease in Ghosikheda under Simrol police station jurisdiction a year back. He had sold a plot to Kailash Patel in September 2013 for Rs 4 lakh. He had promised to develop the colony in three years but he did not do it. As a result, Patel lodged a complaint with police. Since then, search was on for him.


Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said accused Sameer alias Sharif Multani of Navlakha, who was on the run for about 18 months in connection with land fraud in Simrol, had come to meet a relative in Manikbagh. Crime branch team arrested him from near Manikbagh bridge when he was on way to meet the relative. Simrol police booked the accused under Sections 420, 467, 468 of IPC.


Earlier, police raided many places in search of accused but failed to arrest him after which a reward of Rs 20,000 was announced on his arrest. Accused told police that he along with partner Mohsin Kabir, Tariq Khan and Brijen Vora had started a firm – Unnati Realties Pvt Ltd in 2011. Their office was situated on Sapna Sangeeta Road. Sameer later started his own business after separating from partners in 2013. His firm was Nirman Infrastructure.
