OnePlus 6T Endures a Grueling Stress Test—But Does It Survive?

OnePlus took the wraps off the OnePlus 6T this week, ushering in the next great Android flagship at a fantastic value. Value aside, is it as durable as the more premium flagships on the market?


YouTuber JerryRigEverything put the OnePlus 6T through his grueling stress tests and it truly impressed. Starting with the front Gorilla Glass 6, it is the latest in glass technology but it holds up the same as nearly every smartphone does. It reaches a certain level where scratches are engraved on to the glass, but it’s not any more fragile than other smartphone glass.


What is impressive is the in-display fingerprint scanner. Living underneath the glass, it needs to reflect light on the fingerprint to adequately read it. JerryRigEverything scratched the area where the fingerprint scanner lives, but it still works perfectly. It’s good to know the in-display fingerprint scanner will not be hindered by scratches.


An area that may warrant some worry is the Midnight Black color option that features a frosted glass back similar to the Pixel 3. That phone famously retains scratches almost too easily, but thankfully the OnePlus 6T isn’t that bad. It will retain scratches from harder materials though everyday items like keys and coins won’t leave a mark.


The final test was the bend test and the OnePlus 6T held firm. Upon initial pressure, the phone did give a bit yet it never compromised the integrity of the frame. This, in turn, doesn’t allow the glass to bend too much avoiding possible glass breakage.


Overall, the OnePlus 6T is not only one of the best smartphone values, it’s also one of the most durable.

States Struggle With Onslaught of Opioid OD Deaths
